Each bowl, vase or lamp I turn or sculpt contains a part of me as well. By drawing inspiration from nature, “defects” become enhancements, and the natural growth process becomes part of the design as I create each piece individually to reveal the life force of the tree. My bowls are turned on the lathe, and most include the natural bark edge. Vases and lamps I often sculpt into free forms suggested by the growth patterns in the wood.  I use primarily burl, scarred, spalted or wormy wood that tells the story of the tree in order to bring the beauty of nature into everyday life.
