As an artist I create objects from a place of interior knowing, to let go of the labels of beauty and rationality as well as commonly held beliefs, and externally imposed concepts. I strive to let the creative process flow through me, trusting an inherent primal intelligence to direct the actions of making art. The desired result is to create work that touches the viewer in that same realm, that place beneath preconceived ideas of what art is, what beauty is, and what logical meaning is.
When hands are engaged, mind is freed, heart fills the space, vision comes forth and this is when true creativity is released. Honesty, integrity and commitment to the craft and the materials, all are essential to this process. Craftsmanship is a way of honoring handwork, Form is honoring of vision and the final texture and color is a way of honoring the details and the light that surrounds the work with subtle beauty. www.stegersculpture.com
